FAQ's - When the Trail Opens: List

WHAT WILL BE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?

Per City policy, Parks and Trails are open from dusk to dawn.

The trail will be closed after dark.  There will be no lights along the trail.

WHO WILL POLICE THE TRAIL?

The City contracts a Security Company to conduct routine mobile patrols of trails.  This company will monitor the trail and respond to calls for service placed by members of the public.

The trail is being designed with good sight-lines and keeping safety in mind by employing the principles of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).

Parks and Trails, per City policy, are closed after dark.

Residents can contact the Municipal Service Centre at 905.356.7521 ext.4211 or direct at 905.356-1355 to report any trail concerns.  The Service Centre operates 24/7 and a call would filter to a Shift Supervisor for action.

HOW DO I REPORT VIOLENCE, VANDALISM OR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR?

The City operates what is known as the "Rzone".  The "R" in Rzone stands for "respect and responsibility" - respect for yourself; respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.

Through this program, the City seeks to address various concerns related to abuse and inappropriate behaviour at all of its Recreation Facilities, such as trails, through Rzone reporting.
